TOTAL PROTEIN ALTERATION IN DIFFERENT TISSUES OF FRESH WATER BIVAIVE9 PARREYSIA RYLINDRICA AFTER CYPERMETHRIN EXPOSUREBhalchandra Waykar and V.S. Lomte
The indiscriminate use of synthetic pyrethroids causes serious pollution problem in aquatic environment. Effect of cypermethrin on the total protein content of mantle, foot, gill, digestive gland and whole body of fresh water bivalve, Parreysia cylindrica was studied. The bivalves were exposed to 0.4992 ppm cypermethrin as acute treatment and 0.09984 ppm as chronic treatment. Decrease in total protein content of all tissues was observed with an increased exposure time. The most change of protein content occur in digestive gland followed by gill, mantle, whole body and foot.
