HISTOPATHOLOGICAL AND HAEMATOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS ON EUS AFFECTED FISH, MYSTUS CAVASIUS (HAM.)S.A. Mastan and T.A. QureshiAbstract Histopathological investigations have been made on the skin of EUS affected fish, M. cavasius.Varying degree of destruction has been observed in the epidermis, dermis, hypodermis and underlying masculature. In all the cases the skin lost the epidermis completely at the site of infection. The dermis along with hypodermis showed the signs of necrosis. Necrosis also took place in the subcutaneous layer underlying the hypodermis. Longitudinal muscle fibres clearly showed the signs of necrosis. Necrotization and formation of granulomas can clearly be seen in circular and longitudinal muscle layers. Haematological parameters have been investigated of these fishes and considerable changes have been found in these parameters. Substantial decline has been observed in the number of erythrocytes and lymphocytes. The number of granulocytes and monocytes got significantly increased. The amount of haemoglobin has also been decreased drastically in all the cases.
