BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES IN MUTANT SEEDS AND LEAVES OF TRIGONELLA FOEN URN GRAECURNG. Gyananath, V.G., Hemalatha, V. Murthy and S.V. ShewdikarAbstract Trigonella foenum-graecum commonly known as `Methi' is a healthy vegetable crop which is grown in several parts of the country. This plant is used for mutagenic studies. Biochemical studies in mutant seeds and leaves of Trigonella are investigated. Comparison of the different mutagens like Carbaryl, Endosulfan, Quinolphos, Cypermethrin showed that after the treatment with mutagens a decrease in seed proteins was observed. The amount of ascorbic acid in mutant leaves showed reduction with all the four mutagens.
