Md. Babari and R.D. Kaplay

Abstract

The main source of ground water in Parbhani district is the secondary porosity developed in rocks due to fractures, joints and weathering. 20 well water samples were collected and analysed with reference to physico-chemical characteristics to find out the status of the water for drinking purpose and to find out the magnitude of the health problems in the area. The parameters of water quality like pH, TH, TDS, Ca, Mg, Na, K, CO2, HCO3 Cl and SO4 were determined. The results of the work revealed that the content of the above parameters in majority of samples were below the standard limits given by WHO and 1St for drinking water. The values of TH, TDS in some cases are above standard limits indicating sources of waste water and sanitary disposal near by the well causing health problems.
