CONTROL OF VEGETATIVE GROWTH IN BUILDINGS

Abstract

The problem of vegetative growth such as mould, algae and lichens is very acute in building. The conventional remedial measures are not long lasting and also involve the use of highly toxic chemicals. A need is felt to identify the species and develop eco-friendly and non-toxic fungicides from plant sources. The paper also gives a brief account of favourable conditions of such growth and conventional remedial measures.
