Kiran M.A. RafeeqAbstract Vegetables and fruits are sold on the streets in the shops or by cart pushers along the road sides. Due to deposition of heavy metals on them, adverse effects have been observed on public health. People have been reported to have been suffering from abdominal diseases by consuming these vegetables and fruits. Mostly Pb, Cd, Cu and Zn are the heavy metals deposited on the vegetables and fruits. The values found exceed the permissible limit of WHO.
