UTILIZATION OF WIND POWER AS A RENEWABLE SOURCE OF ENERGY FOR CONSERVATION OF ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

Electricity shortages are common these days and a significant part of the population has no access to electricity at all in India. The best solution lies in the use of renewable sources of energy. Wind power is the world fastest growing energy resources, at the rate of 27% per year. It is gaining popularity due to various environmental benefits like reduction in emission of CO2, it is environment friendly, emits no pollutant or waste heat and needs no cooling water, and it is one of the renewable means of electricity generation. The paper discusses the present scenario of wind energy in India and its future. It deals with the technical details and principles involved in the extraction of energy from wind.
