Abstract

The present study deals with the status and patterns of agroforestry practices in Bhabhar region of Kumaun Himalaya. The study was made in 4 village panchayats, (Lakhanmandi, Nayagaonkatan,Aamkhera and Khanwalkatan) of Nainital district lying between 27.7°N latitude and 78.9°E longitude.Among the trees planted Eucalyptus is most preferred species. Study of agroforestry patterns reveals that bund planting is predominant (68.4%) in the area following by wayside (31.6%) plantations. In these village panchayats 100% farmers have adopted agroforestry practices thereby reducing pressure on the surrounding natural forests.
