EFFECT OF GROUP-11 PYRETHROIDS ON GLYCOLYTIC PATHWAY OF CARBOHYDRATE METABOLISM IN THE FISH, CYPRINUS CARPIOK. Kamalavenil, V. Gopal and Ursula SampsonAbstract The activity levels of aldolase, the best characterized key-enzyme of glycolytic pathway, was assessed in different tissues (muscle, brain, liver and blood ) of fish Cyprinus carpiĀ° exposed to lethal concentration of group-II pyrethroid (deltamethrin, cypermethrin, fenvalerate and fluvalinate )pesticides for a period of 72 hours. The results obtained every 3hr upto 24 hr and at 48 and 72 hr, showed an increased activity. The increase aldolase activity suggests the increased glycolytic pathway , as a possible adaptive metabolic mechanism to tide over the toxic stress, and can be used as sensitive parameter to assass the environmental pollution.
