HISTOPATHOLOGY OF CALLA CALLA (HAM.) GILLS INFECTED BY THELOHANELLUS SP.

Abstract

The present study deals with the histopathology of Catla calla gill infected Thelohanellus sp. Thelohanellits sp. cysts of varying in sizes were found on the gills. Large cysts were surrounded by flattened epithelial cells. Highly infected gill filaments appeared to closely surrounded by hyperplasia of gill epithelium. The important histopathological changes observed in the gill lamellae of infected Catla eatla were fusion, inflammation, congestion and necrosis. Gill infection damaged the respiratory surface area of the gills and mortality reported in early morning.
