PERFORMANCE STUDY ON PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PARAMETERS IN EXOTIC CULTIVARS OF SWEET ORANGE (CITRUS SINCENSIS OSBECK) UNDER SUB ARID ZONE OF MAHARASHTRA

Abstract

Under the study, the general performance of all the exotic cultivars i.e. Lane late Navel Orange, Washington Navel Orange, Mineola Tangelo-6- Eco, Navel Tr-Top Vielo, Valencia Keenen, Valencia Tri-5/13 and Valencia Tri -5/14 was satisfactory. The cv Mineola Tangelo-6- ECO stands on highest position in respect of plant height (4.06 m), canopy volume (50.85 m3), yield/ plant (48.53 Kg), juice percentage (54.97%), TSS (8.2° Brix) and Reducing sugars (3.63%) and Total Reducing sugars ( 5.38%) Cultivar Valencia Keenen recorded the minimum plant height (2.05m), canopy volume (6.13 m3), fruit weight (189.3g/fruit), Reducing sugars (2.92%) and rag content (61.3 g/ fruit). Minimum juice percentage (34.57%) and TSS (7.33" Brix) was recorded in cv Washington Navel Orange while cv Lane Late Navel Orange shows minimum number of fruits (4i/pl.) and yield (12.45 kg/pl.).
