Food cooking may generate Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) in varying amounts. The abatement efficiency of PAH of the new Centrifuge/Hydrocyclone Scrubber (CHS) system is compared with that of the conventional Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filtering system. Provided they were in immaculately clean condition, both resulted in being valuable abatement technologies. CHS seemed to be superior to GAC especially for high molecular weight PAH, including those exhibiting higher carcinogenic activity. Even when the cleanliness of both systems was not satisfactory, CHS showed to be still somewhat superior to GAC, which clearly proved more expensive with respect to CHS.
