Beena Joshi, Geeta Kharkwal, Samina Usman and YS. Rawat

Abstract

The present paper deals with the vegetational analysis and diversity of below canopy vegetation under banj oak and tilonj oak forests along an altitudinal gradient of 1900-2100m in central Himalaya. The total number of species, density (id/m2) and diversity observed was maximum in banj oak than tilonj oak forests. Relationship between species richness and equitability was statistically more significant (P<0.01) than relationship between equitability and species diversity in both forest types.
