INFLUENCE OF UV TREATMENT ON ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANT BACTERIA IN DRINKING WATERM. Lalitha, G. Renuka, A. Suresh and S. Ram ReddyAbstract An attempt was made to investigate the efficacy of UV treatment on normal and antibiotic resistant bacteria of drinking water supplied to Warangal city (AP). These studies revealed that UV irradiation even at the lower dosage level significantly reduced the microbial counts. This treatment was also found to be effective against antibiotic resistant bacteria. Though this appears to be an effective treatment process, the major drawback is the large amount of water to be treated and also cost-effectiveness.
