A MATRIX POPULATION MODEL FOR PORTULACA OLERACEA LINN.

Abstract

Age structure and dynamics of a herbaceous species Portulaca oleracea L. was studied in permanent plot with natural populations over a period of two years. Future population structure were projected by Leslie matrix model based on 4 stage classes viz., seedling, juvenile, young and mature. Seedling emergence was regressed on soil parameters. Based on the survival matrices critical stage in the life of species was estimated.
