T. Himabindu and K. Jaganmohan Reddy

Abstract

Paperboard Speciality Paper Division, (PSPD) near Bhadrachalam industrial effluents were analyzed and assessed the impact on soil and yield of rice crop. The effluents exhibited optimum level of Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cu and Zn. Where as Cd, Pb, Ni, Hg, Cr, Co and Ag were not detected. In field study, irrigating with this effluents of paper industry enhanced the growth of rice crop over the control rice crop. It effected positively in terms of yield attributes of rice. The yield attributes like number of spikes filled, spike length, number of spikelets per spike, number of filled seeds/spike, seed-yield/ha.anci H.I% was increased. Finally it can be concluded that effluents were not shown adverse impact on either soil nature or yield however, it added nutrients like Mg, Ca, and Zn to the soil and crops.
