Abstract

Pot experiment was conducted during rabi season of the year 2003 on loamy sand soil to evaluate the effect of FYM and phosphorus on soil properties and nutrient content of fenugreek irrigated with saline water. The application of farmyard manure showed the significant enhancement in available NPK and organic carbon of post harvest soil. Furthermore, the addition of FYM brought a perceptible improvement in content of NPK in seed and straw of fenugreek. The application of phosphorus increased the available nutrients in post harvest soil and their content in seed and straw of the crop. The increasing level of ECiw decreased the available NPK and organic carbon of soil but increased the salinity of the soil. Nitrogen content of seed and straw of fenugreek increased significantly and the P and K decreased considerably with the increasing levels of salinity of irrigation water.
