IN VITRO REGENERATION AND MASS MULTIPLICATION OF ANDROGRAPHIS ATTINIS NEES - AN ENDEMIC MEDICINAL SPECIES FROM INDIAS. GOVINDARAL T. SELVANKUMAR, S. HARIPRASAD AND C. ALAGESABOOPATHIAbstract An efficient protocol has been developed for plant regeneration from nodal explants of in vitro grown Andrographis affinis Nees. Proliferation of shoots was achieved on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with various concentrations of BA, K.n either singly or in various combinations. The highest shoot regeneration frequency (100%) were obtained from nodal segment on MS medium fortified with 2 mg/1 BA and 1 mg/1 Kn. The regenerated shoots best on MS 2mg/1 IBA. Regenerated plantlets with well-developed shoot and roots were hardened, successfully transferred to soil and maintained in green house. The present in vitro procedure can be used in conservation and mass multiplication of this endemic medicinal plant.
