Abstract

In the present work Tendu leaf litter (Diospyros melanoxylon Roxb family Ebanaceae leaves) were used. The waste of Tendu leaves after making beedi is thrown as garbage in tons everyday. This waste was used to prepare vermicompost. Residues rich in lignin like leaves or stalks of woody plants, take relatively more time. Fungal culture was used for partial decomposition of hard material. The partially decomposed material was further utilized by earthworm (Eudrilus eugeniae) and converted in to vermicompost.
