Abstract

Solatium nigrum, a medicinal plant. The plant was screened for Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) association, spore load, phosphatase activity, pH and available phosphorus content by collecting rhizosphere soil samples along with fine roots from different locations of Karnataka . AM root colonization was more in samples from Hassan compared to Shimcga, Tumkur, Kolar and Bangalore. AM spore load was significantly higher in Bangalore compared to other locations. Phosphatase activity in Bangalore samples were significantly higher compared to other locations. Available phosphorus was more in soils indicating P solubilization by mycorrhiza.cold storage temperature were acceptable up to one month.
