PRADEEP SHRIVASTAVA

Abstract

Antibiotics are secondary metabolites having preferential antimicrobial activity They are produced only by small groups of microorganisms and are not required for growth in culture, although they probably have survival value in nature. Cephalosporin C (CPC) is a member of 13-lactam group of antibiotics, which are more resistant to a lactamases then penicillin. Present review elaborates all, the parameters involved in the CPC fermentation process development and optimization. Efforts are made to include and evaluate all the parameters and issues pertaining to Cephalosporin C studies and production.
