AN ECO-FRIENDLY ROUTE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF THE INDUSTRIAL RAW MATERIAL 3,4,5-TRIHYDRO- XYBENZOIC ACIDGARGI MUKHERJEE AND R. BANERJEE
The industrially important chemical 3,4 ,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid was produced through biotransformation by solid-state fermentation (SSF) using the fungus Rh Lopus origac. The substrate used for the process was tannin-containing fruits or myrobalan of particle size (0.5min), which was mixed with modified czapek-dox medium in (1:1) ratio. Effects of the process parameters were studied. and their optimum levels were determined. The optimum conditions found were 20g substrate amount an initial pH of 4.5 and an incubation period and temperature of 4811 and 30C respectively.
