EFFECT OF MUTANT RHIZOBIAL INOCULANTS ON GROWTH AND NODULATION IN CYAMOPSIS TETRAGONOLOBA

NEERJA SRIVASTAVA

Abstract

For the present study three types of resistant/sensitive(neomycin resistant mutant tetracycline resistant mutant and erythromycin, sensitive mutant) mutants of native Rhizobium of Cymopsis tetragonoloba L. were isolated after mutagenic treatment with ethylmethan sulponate (EMS). The effectivity of native as well as two antibiotic resistant and one sensitive mutant strain of rhizobia indicated that all these differ markedly from each other with regard to influencing growth and nodulation in C. tetragonoloba.
