MICROBIAL TESTING OF CURRY LEAF OIL AGAINST ONE OF THE DANDRUFF CAUSING FUNGI

Abstract

Considering the problem of dandruff and the importance of herbs and herbal products in the market, one of the traditionally important common herb of India i.e. curry leaf has been evaluated microbiologically to check its anti-dandruff properties. For doing so, the organismS were firstly isolated from the scalps of subjects with prominent dandruff condition. The colonies of organisms were then isolated and identified under the microscope. Of the organisms obtained Malassezia (dandruff causing fungi) was then tested against curry leaf oil and then the minimum inhibition concentration of the oil for malassezia is determined.
