Abstract

A comparative study was carried out with different organic solid wastes such as fruit waste, municipal solid waste, and yard waste with common paper mill sludge. The experiments was performed in controlled condition by maintaining the moisture content, temperature. The species eudrilus eugenia which best at Kerala and Coimbatore conditions was used in this process. The organic waste were. partially decomposed for 15days in the reactor by natural aeration method and then mixed with paper mill sludge in 3 different bins. The earth worms were inoculated in the bin. Analysis of the initial characteristics of solid waste was carried out and the whole process was analyzed for every 5 days once. The final casting obtained were also analyzed for its nutrient content, because of the earth worm activity.. The analysis revealed that a better result was found in the order of fruit waste, municipal solid waste and yard waste.
