A. S. SHANWARP, R.P. SONTAKKE AND S.U. MESHRAM

Abstract

In the present investigation, the use of a vaccination is made as a tool against bacterial disease of a fish. Bacterial diseases like a Pseudomonas infection (Fin-Rot), white ulcer, etc. not only decrease the socio-economic impact but also affect the human health directly or indirectly and hence vaccine preparation by using Pseudomonas sp. as a principal organism was attempted. First the isolation and screening of the organisms from infected fish was achieved. The preparation of a heat killed attenuated vaccine by selecting Pseudomonas sp. was attempted and the application of this vaccine by immersion method was successfully performed. The production and evaluation of vaccine by comparing the level of a mortality or survival in unvaccinated control with vaccinated by immersion method was achieved. The plasmid profile of the isolates was studied.
