DETERMINATION OF LEAD AND CADMIUM IN MATERNAL AND NEONATAL BLOODS BY ELECTROTHERMAL ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRYS. M. TALEBI, S. DADFARNIA, AND Z. AMANIAbstract The levels of lead and cadmium in maternal and neonatal bloods were determined by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The blood levels of Pb and Cd in women resident in the city of Isfahan was compared with those who were living in rural areas and far from the industrial zones and a considerable difference was found between them. The possibility of transportation of Pb and Cd from placenta was investigated by analysis of maternal and neonatal bloods and shoWed that the both elements can transfer from mothers blood to their babies, the transportation rate of lead was more than that for cadmium.
