NITRATE CONTAMINATION IN GROUND WATERS OF BENGHAZI, LIBYA

Abstract

The nitrate content in well waters of eight stations in Benghazi, Libya, and iu rebtioriship with other parameters of water are reported. The values of nitrate in the well waters id two stations. El•Hawari and Sabri, exceeded the standard desirable limit. Significant positive correlations of nitrate with iron, nickel, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids and salinity of well water were evident. Suitable suggestions were made to reduce the nitrate contamination of gnound waters of Benghazi.
