Abstract

In the present study, an attempt has been made to investigate the quality of ground water in and Around Tirupati, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. The various parameters monitored include pH, Temperature, Total Suspended Solids, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Solids, Dissolved Oxygen, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, Alkalinity, Chlorides, Hardness and Colony Count. The results showed that all water samples have neutral pH, except S8 sample which have slightly acidic pH. In the present analysis we can conclude that the S4 water sample is useful for drinking and household purpose without any treatment and the samples S1, S2, S3 and S8 require some treatment before their use for drinking purpose. A Correlation Study has been carried out among all possible pairs of physical and chemical parameters to assess ground water quality.
