PHYSICO-CHEMICAL INVESTIGATION OF GROUNDWATER OFPISANGAN REGION OF AJMER (RAJASTHAN) WITH SPECIALREFERENCE TO FLUORIDE AND NITRATERanjeet Jagariya
This research is based on physicochemical investigation of groundwater with special reference to fluorideand nitrate to evaluate the quality of groundwater of Pisangan region of Ajmer district (Rajasthan). Pisanganis a tehsil block of Ajmer district (Rajasthan) and located 35.2 km from Ajmer district headquarter. Thegroundwater resources of Pisangan region (Ajmer) has greatly been affected by the overexploitation andgeochemical changes. This research work was investigated the physico-chemical characteristics ofgroundwater ofPisangan and its surrounding villages. For the physico-chemical investigation, sixteengroundwater specimens were bottled from Pisangan and its surrounding villages during postmonsoon of2021 and investigated for various groundwater quality parameters with special reference to fluoride (Fâ)and nitrate (NO3â). It was perceived that the physico-chemical investigation of groundwater of Pisanganand its surrounding villages shown an uneven contamination of both fluoride (Fâ) and nitrate (NO3â), andmost of the groundwater specimens were not as per the drinking water standards of Bureau of IndianStandards (BIS). The groundwater of Pisangan region is found unsuitable for drinking purposes due topresence of fluoride (Fâ) and nitrate (NO3â) beyond the maximum agreeable limit of drinking water standardsof BIS.
