MULBERRY AND NON-MULBERRY SILKWORM PUPAE AS ANANIMAL FEED

Abstract

The animalrequires certain essential nutrients in their diet in order to achieve the desired growth anddevelopment which leads to income generation. The dietary feed which are available in the market forfishes and monogastric animals such as poultry, pig etc. are quite expensive and are not easily available.Silkworm pupae meal, which is a waste of the sericultural industry, is a highly nutritious and cost-effectiveproduct that can fulfil the dietary requirement and successfully utilized as a feed for these organisms. Thepresent review displays the utilization of silkworm (both mulberry as well as non-mulberry) pupae as analternate source of protein in fish, poultry, and pig feeding.
