Abstract

In this paper, calcium chloride was used to construct the water body of a small salinity gradient solar pond (SGSP). The study was carried out from the 1st of November to 10th of June 2021 in Nasiriya City, South of Iraq. The pond had a cylindrical shape with a surface area of 0.19625 m2, and a depth of 1 m. The results showed that calcium chloride can be used effectively in the construction of the SGSPs. The highest temperature was 59 ºC in June.
