DIVERSITY OF PLANTS ON THE BANK OF RIVER RUPNARAYAN, INDIA

Abstract

Rupnarayan River is an important river in West Bengal .This River originates from Dhaleswari. Rivers and human civilization both are correlated. Most of the human population lived near the river. People surrounding the river are directly or indirectly dependent on the river. People worship the Rupnarayan River and use river water for various domestic purposes. On River Rupnarayan bank there are several trees are found. Local people mainly rearing this tree. Plant diversity has been observed on the bank of River Rupnarayan from June 2020 to December 2020. Local people use some medicinal plants for their medical purpose. Besides this, surrounding the Rupnarayan River is fertile land for agriculture. People surrounding the Rupnarayan River used plant leaves as fuel. They used plants for the construction of houses. Erosion of soil is a major problem in the Rupnarayan River. As a result, flood occurs every year and common village people are mostly affected. To minimize soil erosion plant diversity plays a very important role. This paper contains present status of plants diversity on the Rupnarayan river bank.
