OPTIMIZATION OF PRODUCTION MEDIUM FOR SELECTED ENZYMES BY BACILLUS AND PSEUDOMONAS SPECIES ISOLATED FROM FISH GUT AND ITS MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION

D. Anitha and A. Kumaraswamy

Abstract

Proteases are key enzymes in industrial application enzymes are ubiquitous in occurrence being found in all living organisms and are essential for cell growth and differentiation. Protease enzymes account for nearly 60% of the industrial enzyme market in the world. These enzymes are involved in essential biological processes like blood clotting, controlled cell death and tissue differentiation. They catalyse important proteolytic steps in tumor invasion or in infection cycle of a number of pathogenic micro organisms and viruses. In the present study, an attempt will be made to isolate and characterize the proteolytic microbes isolated from the gut of fresh waterfish Oreochromis mossambicus.
