SUB-SURFACE AND SURFACE WATER QUALITY OF DAVANGERE DISTRICT, KARNATAKA: A REVIEWS. THIRUMALA, B. M. MANOHARA AND B.R. KIRANAbstract An overview on surface and sub-surface water quality of Davangere district of Karnataka is reviewed based on published data. Ground water and surface water are a major source for domestic, industrial and agricultural purposes. In India Groundwater quality is generally good but is getting contaminated due to geogenic and anthropogenic sources. There are increasingly widespread indicators of degradation in the quality and quantity of surface water and groundwater, caused by over abstraction and inadequate water pollution control. |
