Abstract

This research was carried out to compare the performance of Al-Al and Cu-Cu electrodes in eliminating the Blue SI dye aqueous solution in electrocoagulation with optimizing operating parameters pH, current density, electrolyte concentration, and contact time. The effect of these parameters were evaluated using Design Experts software and the experimental data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). Replicates were maintained for all experiments, and the adeptness of color abstraction for those parameters were derived using ANOVA at 5% level of significance. X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy analysis of the sludge obtained, from which the mechanism was inferred. Analysis of variance showed a high determination meaning coefficient R2 (99.347 %) for color removal. The optimal settings for the expected color abstraction were established to be 05 min (electrolysis time) for Al-Al at pH 7, and 20 min at pH 9 for Cu-Cu electrodes.
