STUDY ON DETERMINATION AND ACCUMULATION OF HEAVY METALS IN MULA-MUTHA RIVER, PUNE DISTRICT, (MAHARASHTRA)DNYANDEO GORAKHE AND NAVNATH CHANDANSHIVEAbstract Pune city is covered by the Mula-Mutha River which originates in the Western Ghats. This River flows from Khadakwasla Dam towards Pune city covering a distance of 14 km. Due to increasing urbanization, industrialization and poor treatment of utilized water, the status of river water is severely damaged. As good quality water is basic need of mankind, it is necessary to treat the river water. But before that it is a requirement to determine the level of heavy metal contaminants. In the present study the content of Cadmium (Cd), Cobalt (Co), Copper (Cu), Chromium (Cr), Iron (Fe), Nickel (Ni), Lead (Pb), Zinc (Zn) was studied at 5 different locations was studied using Atomic Absorption spectrophotometry |
