Abstract

Mangrove litter has an important role in responding to mangrove species conditions in both the present and in the future. This study was conducted between September 2016 and August 2017. The purpose was to determine the relationship between the time of season and litter. The mangrove litter was measured using 1 m x 1 m litter traps which were placed in mangrove transects. The relationship between mangrove litter and physicochemical factors was determined using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The leaf litter from S. alba demonstrated the largest contribution at this location, 63%. The influencing factors were high organic material, sand and clay substrate content, and with support from salinity. This demonstrates that the more litter produced would be influenced by these factors in the mangrove S. alba.
