Abstract

The Brazilian Cerrado has several species of plants used by the population because of its medicinal potential, among them is Clitoria guianensis Benth. This is usually sold at fairs in alcoholic infusions, the main uses are as a tonic for the nervous system and aphrodisiac, about Clitoria guianensis Benth there are few studies about its cultivation in nursery and the adequate fertilization for this plant of the Cerrado. The main objective of this experiment was to test the propagation of the species, by seed and in some substrates evaluating its growth to obtain knowledge about the cultivation of the species Clitoria guianensis Benth. Even in the nursery, it could be observed that in some treatments C. guianensis Benth followed the annual cycle of growth and energy storage in the roots hibernating to the dry season while other treatments interfere in the natural cycle of the plant. The C. guianensis Benth being a Cerrado plant where the soil is poor in nutrients is acid has the possibility of using land of ravine (underground soil) where it is adapted as substrate for cultivation, although generally taken from poor soils are easily accessible and cheaper. Substrates with non-mineralized organic matter interfere in the natural growth cycle of Clitoria guianensis Benth.
