RECOVERY OF DECAHYDRATE SODIUM SULPHATE FROM MIXED SALT OF COMMON EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT SOLAR PAND. SURESH KUMAR, R. RATHIKA, B. VISHNUKUMAR AND K. SHANTHIAbstract In this study, decahydrate sodium sulphate was recovered from the solar salt pans of Veerapandi common effluent treatment plant, Tirupur, Tamilnadu, India. The recovery was carried out at different pH (4-13) and the extracted salts were characterized for particle size, zeta potential, Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-Ray Diffraction Spectroscopy (XRD). Under optimized condition, (100 mL in 500 g, pH 7) 93% of decahydrate sodium sulphate salt was recovered and it was similar to the commercial sodium sulphate salt. This finding confers possibility of using recovered decahydrate sodium sulphate salt for dyeing purpose.
